The Piggy

Paying for chores works. Keeping count is the hard part.

  • Did you feed the dog yet?
  • You never paid me for Saturday!
  • Hang on, how much do I owe you?

The Piggy keeps the list, the count and the record, so pay day is a tap, not an argument.

Fair for them. You stay in charge.

Kids can tick and suggest. Only a parent can approve, pay out or change the rules.

✅ Nothing counts until you say so

Ticks wait in your Approve list. Approve one, send it back with a reason, or approve them all. Anything that looks like a double-up is held for you to check.

🔒 Kids can't pay themselves

Each child's own device is set up by scanning a code from your phone, and it's locked to that child. If it tries to change anything it shouldn't, The Piggy holds it back for you to keep or drop.

A parent's Approve list in The Piggy with two chores waiting: Ruby's Feed Biscuit for $1 and Oscar's Put the bins out for $2, and Approve all.

💬 Every money action asks first

Paying out, a bonus or a deduction: The Piggy checks with you before anything changes.

📒 Everyone sees the same numbers

Kids see what's in their tin and when pay day is. You see who's owed what, and History shows every chore, bonus and payout by pay cycle. "You never paid me" now has an answer.

A parent paying Ruby her $18.50 in The Piggy, with $5 of it going into her Scooter goal.

👨‍👩‍👧 Up to four grown-ups

Mum, Dad, a step-parent or a grandparent, even across two homes. Everyone signs in with a code sent to their email, so there are no passwords, and it all stays in sync on iPhone, Android, iPad and computers.

Let the rules do the nagging

  • All done bonus: finish every job in the pay period and earn a bonus you choose.
  • Automatic pause: turn it on and, if too many jobs get sent back, earning pauses for a while by itself. You choose the numbers.
  • Trusted jobs: let a small daily job you trust skip approval.
  • Days off and pauses: for holidays, sick days and busy weeks.
  • Spaced out: "up to 3 times a week" jobs never land two days in a row.

Your kids' details stay small and private

The Piggy keeps the least it can. Here's exactly what that means.

What we keep
Your kids' first names, their chores, amounts and goals. For parents and carers, a first name and the email you sign in with. That's it.
What we never ask for
Kids' surnames, birthdays, photos or email addresses. Kids never make an account.
What we never do
No ads, and we never sell or share your family's data. The app loads nothing from other companies and sets no cookies, so there's no tracking in it. A child's device talks only to The Piggy.
Who can see it
The parents and carers in your family, and each child on their own screen. Your records are stored with Cloudflare so they sync between devices. They aren't end to end encrypted, so we can help when something goes wrong. We can only look at a family's records by typing in why, and every look is recorded.
Lose a phone, lose nothing
The Piggy keeps your last 20 saves, so a mistake can be put right, and you can save a backup file any time.
Leave whenever you like
Remove your family in the app. We keep it for 7 days in case you change your mind, then delete it. Our privacy policy says how long backup copies last.
Payments
Card details are held by Stripe, never by The Piggy.
This website
It counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies. The app itself has no analytics.

For kids: The Piggy knows your first name, your jobs and your money. It never shows you ads. Your mum, dad or carer can see your stuff. The people who run The Piggy only look if something needs fixing, and they have to write down why.

No App Store needed. The Piggy opens from its own icon like any other app, and it's always the latest version.

  1. Open app.thepiggy.com.au in Safari on your iPhone.

  2. Tap Share (on an iPhone it may be under the three dots or three lines beside the address), then Add to Home Screen. Check Open as Web App is on, then tap Add.

Add your kids, then set up each child's iPad, iPhone or Android device by scanning a code from your phone.

On Android, tap the three dots in Chrome, then Add to Home screen or Install app.

On a computer? Scan this with your phone's camera to start there.

Questions parents ask

Does The Piggy hold money? How do I pay my kids?

No. The Piggy never touches your money. It keeps count of what each child has earned and what you've paid them. On pay day it shows what each child is owed. Pay them in cash, by bank transfer or onto a kids' card they already have, then mark it paid with a tap. You can put a slice straight into one of their goals.

Do my kids need a bank account, a card or an email?

No. Kids never sign up or sign in. You add each child by first name, then set up their iPad, iPhone or Android device by scanning a code from your phone. That device stays with that child. There's no bank account, card or ID check for anyone.

Which devices does it work on? Is there an Android version?

Parents and carers can use an iPhone, iPad, Android phone or computer, all kept in sync. A child's own device can be an iPad or iPhone, or an Android phone or tablet: on Android, set it up in Chrome and add The Piggy to the Home screen. Kids don't need their own device, though. On a shared family iPad each child taps their name, and switching to someone else needs the parent PIN.

Why isn't it in the App Store?

The Piggy is a web app that lives on your Home Screen. Open it in Safari, add it to your Home Screen, and it opens full screen from its own icon like any other app. There's nothing to download or update, so you always have the latest version. Getting it on your Home Screen and signing in takes about two minutes.

Will my kids actually use it?

We can't promise every kid will love chores. What The Piggy does is make the payoff easy to see. Kids get their own screen with today's jobs, the money in their tin, a countdown to pay day and a goal with a picture. Streaks, badges and an all done bonus reward sticking at it, and kids can suggest new jobs and a price. You set the amounts, so you decide how big the rewards are.

How many kids, and what ages is it for?

Every child in your family is included for the one price. Each job has a picture, so kids who can't read yet can follow along. Older kids can save for bigger goals, pitch their own jobs and move to fortnightly or monthly pay.

Can both parents, a grandparent or two homes share it?

Yes. One family can have up to four parents or carers, each signing in with their own email on their own phone, wherever they live. Everyone approves and pays out from the same record, all for one price.

How does the free month work?

Your 30 free days start the day your family is set up, or, if you joined from the waiting list, the day you're let in. You get every feature, and we don't ask for a card. Before the month ends, the app asks you to choose A$49 a year or A$5.99 a month. If you choose early, you keep the rest of your free days: nothing is charged until they run out, and we email you before your first payment. If you don't choose, nothing is charged. Your records stay there to read, and new chores wait until you pick a plan. There's one free month per account.

I was given a code. Where do I use it?

Codes are for friends and family we've invited. When you choose a plan in the app, tap "Have a code?" and type it in. If it's valid, you won't be asked for a card.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes, in the app, in a few taps. There's no phone call, no form and no lock-in contract. Your plan keeps running to the end of the time you've paid for, and you can switch between monthly and yearly in the same place. If you haven't chosen a plan yet, there's nothing to cancel in your free month.

What happens to our records if we stop paying?

Nothing is deleted. You and your kids can still open The Piggy and see every balance, every goal and what each child is owed. New chores, approvals and payouts wait until you subscribe again, then you pick up right where you left off.

What do you keep about my kids, and who can see it?

Only what the app needs: your kids' first names, their chores, amounts and goals, plus the first name and email each parent or carer signs in with. We never ask for kids' surnames, birthdays, photos or emails. There are no ads, we never sell or share your data, and the app has no tracking and no cookies. The parents and carers in your family can see your family's records, and each child sees their own screen. Records are stored with Cloudflare and aren't end to end encrypted, so we can help when something goes wrong. We can only look by typing in a reason, and every look is recorded. Card details are held by Stripe, never by us.

How do I delete our family's data?

The parent who set up the family can remove it in the app, under Admin. Save a backup file first if you'd like a copy. We keep the family for 7 days in case you change your mind, then delete it. Our privacy policy says how long backup copies last.
